Chess Club

Everyone is welcome, regardless of whether one knows how to play. Chess Club brings chess playing opportunities to the school in a friendly and educational setting. Studies show that chess improves math, reading and problem solving.

Our goal is to have fun while improving your chess game! Come and learn a new game, play other enthusiasts, or prepare for tournament competitions. In addition to friendly play, the club encourages competitive play for players interested in attending local competitions and the regional tournament where DHMS will compete against other schools. Head Coach and National Chess Master Damir Studen will provide instruction as well as time for games during each class.

When: Every Wednesday, 8:10-8:40am with Coach Damir. Free Play on Fridays, 4:00-5:00pm, starting September 4.

Where: 6th Grade Science Lab, Room 104. Cost: $75 for the entire year.
