Once again, DHMS 8th Graders will have the opportunity to take the PSAT this year, on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. The test is optional and will cost $15 per student. To register for the test ONLY or for the PSAT and four prep sessions, please download and complete the PSAT Registration Form. The prep sessions will be taught by Ms. Wharton and Ms. Colossale after school on October 5, 7, 13, and 14, from 4:00-5:30pm. The prep sessions will be an additional $30 charge.

The value of taking the PSAT in 8th grade is that the results become a diagnostic tool to identify your student's areas of academic strength and weakness. Students can then work on targeted areas of weakness and be better prepared for the PSAT and SAT in high school. Each student's test booklet will be returned to the student, along with his or her scores, so that each student can learn from his or her individual incorrect responses. Once in high school, taking the PSAT may allow your student to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program, the National Scholarship Service for African-American Students, and the National Hispanic Recognition Program.
