Mathcounts Team Hits High Mark at Regional Competition

Congratulations to the DHMS Mathcounts Team that participated in the Mathcounts Competition Series February 21 at Clayton State University.

DHMS entered a four-person team and three individual competitors at the event. The team competitors were: Emily Kaurin-Burns, Matthew Dacey-Koo, Sabina Iqbal, and Carter Rathur. The individual competitors were Simon Abrelat, Daniel Lee, and Lily Nittler.

The DHMS Team, competing against twelve other schools, earned its best showing ever! The DHMS Team came in 3rd place, edging out ten other schools. Results of the Individual Competition will be available at a later date.

Mathcounts has had thirteen students participate this year, meeting every Friday during ELT to practice and drill in preparation for the competition. Our DHMS Mathcounts students are led by the terrific Mr. Ralph Winter, and were assisted at the competition by Mr. Jarrod Mitchell. DHMS owes Mr. Winter and Mr. Mitchell its sincerest thanks for all their amazing work!

Think you might have fun with Mathcounts next year? Be sure to sign up at next fall's Student Clubs & Activities Fair!
